Asian Heritage Month (AHM) Celebrations

The beautiful month of May brings Asian Heritage Month to Canada.  Asian Heritage Month is a celebration of the cultural diversity of all of Canada’s Asian people.  Asian Heritage Month has been celebrated during the month of May in Canada since 1993 and in the USA since 1977.  The Canadian Multicultural Council – Asians in Ontario (CMC) has been involved with organizing celebrations since its declaration by the Canadian parliament in December 2001.
The Toronto population of Asian origin was 1,126,610, according to the Canada census of 2001. This is 24% of the total population of Toronto.
The CMC is proud to be the leader and organizer of the Asian Heritage Month festivities. Through CMC, Toronto’s many Asian community organizations will collaborate to host numerous activities and events aimed at making Asian Heritage Month a public celebration of Asian people and culture that can be enjoyed by all Canadians.
